Backpack Drive

Oxford/Orion FISH is collecting backpacks and school supplies now through August 17. Many clients struggle to provide basics for their children and can’t afford backpacks and school supplies. Will you please help them with this drive to give every one of their clients’ children a strong start to the school year? They expect over 200 requests and deeply appreciate and help you can give with … backpacks, 3-ring binders, lined paper, pocket folders, pencils, Sharpies, highlighters, scissors, lined notebooks, pencil sharpeners, and pencil cases. Items can be dropped off at the FISH pantry Monday-Thursdays from 10:00am – 2:00pm or on Sundays here at the kiosk or contact Dayna at the church office. If you have questions, please call the FISH hotline at 248.628.3933.

Seeking Loving Host Families

Seeking Loving Host Families for YFU Exchange Students Youth for Understanding (YFU) needs host families for some high school exchange students for the 2017-18 school year. Many students are willing to attend their host family’s religious services as often as they do. Students like Sara and An (on a list you can obtain from the CTK office or have emailed to you) are active members in their church community and look forward to participating in church events and services with their host families.

We have a sampling of available students, and you can request more details about any of them or see more at www.yfuusa.org/meetstudents

Many different kinds of families can host -- you don't need to have high school age kids -- just the ability to be a good parent for a high school student, and to open your heart to another child. Most students stay from August through June, though you can host for a shorter time. The students bring their own spending money and health insurance and can share a room with a host sibling. Take a leap of faith! Host a YFU exchange student!

For more information contact Barb Kilkka at 248.932.0811 or kilkka@yfu.org You can also visit www.yfu-usa.org to fill out an online application.
