Jailed more than 30 times before 18. Turned down by more than 175 employers. Now he trains the systems that shut him out.
Clear Tomorrow KC training is built on lived experience, from people who know these systems from the inside.
Johnny Waller Jr.
Founder & CEO, Clear Tomorrow KC. Lead facilitator.
Johnny knows the system from both sides: what it's like to live inside it, and what it takes to change it.
By 14, Johnny was homeless and alone, turning to gangs and drugs to fill the gaps in his life. By 16 he had survived a gunshot wound to the head. He was jailed more than 30 times before he turned 18 and later served time in prison. After his release, more than 175 employers turned him down because of his record. He kept going, and rebuilt his life from the ground up.
Since then, he has earned an associate degree with honors from Johnson County Community College and a bachelor's in Business Management and master's in Organizational Leadership and Development from Rockhurst University, where he was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma. He is now pursuing an EdD in Education and Leadership. Before founding Clear Tomorrow KC in 2024, he managed the Clear My Record Expungement Clinic at the UMKC School of Law.
He founded Kansas City Expungement Day, championed the 2026 City Council resolution declaring April Second Chance Month in Kansas City, and leads the KC Municipal Court Community Coalition in partnership with Presiding Judge Courtney A. Wachal. That's what he brings to every training: a clear-eyed understanding of the barriers people face, and practical experience changing the policies that create them.
